If you want to visit an amusement park, you should check the opening hours. Most outdoor amusement parks aren’t open year-round, but only during the amusement park season. That usually starts in April and ends in November.

Most parks are closed during the winter. On the one hand, this is because it’s cold and less pleasant for visitors to spend time at outdoor attractions (such as roller coasters or water splashes). On the other hand, the closure period is used to give the park a thorough cleaning (i.e., to repair or renovate attractions, build new ones, clean paths, etc.).

Still, there are amusement parks that stay open all year round: the indoor parks, which aren’t affected by bad weather. One example is Plopsa Indoor(see first image) in Hasselt.

Some outdoor amusement parks open their doors on select winter days and/or during the Christmas holidays. They attract visitors with advertising campaigns that capitalize on the winter season, immersing the entire park in that festive atmosphere. Examples include Winter Efteling or Winter in Bellewaerde.
