The United States of America has a lot of theme parks. Two that struck me are these Six Flags parks: .Kings Island (K.I.)In Mason and .Kings Dominion (K.D.) Virginia. This is why.
Some parks have a (all that not moving) watchtower. The two Kings parks mentioned above do have a very special one: the Eiffel Tower of Paris. It is true that these are smaller replicas (about 100 metres high), constructed by Intamin. In their initial years The towers were still in a European entrance area, but nowadays they mainly serve as...
1) identification point
The famous towers are a symbol for the parks. Anyone who sees the replicas (for example in advertisements or leaflets) quickly associate them with Kings Island and/or Kings Dominion.
2) landmark
Visitors inside or even outside the parks see the towers from far above the park domain. A convenient landmark to drive to or to meet.
3) lookout point
The Eiffel Towers are (reasonably) central in the parks, giving visitors a nice view at the top. Their highlights can easily be reached via an elevator.
Just like that?
You might be wondering: the reconstruction of the Eiffel Tower (and other well-known constructions): if so? The answer is yes, under certain conditions. For example, copyright must already be abolished at work and certain names may be used as descriptors. Since the two towers have not yet been demolished K.I. was opened in 1972 and K.D. was opened in 1975 and we assume that it is all copyrighted. And if these replicas ever disappear, we can still look at the original... in Paris!
