Rollercoaster Tycoon 3

Back in time, to 2004.

November was the big month; that’s when game designer Chris Sawyer released the long-awaited third version of Rollercoaster Tycoon. The avid amusement park builder was eagerly awaiting this new simulation game.

And rightly so, because for the first time in RCT history, Sawyer introduced 3D animations, “night views,” and the unique ability to ride the roller coasters you built yourself. Following the original and the second installment—which didn’t differ much from one another—RCT 3 became something of an outlier in the series.

Did this game end up in your game cabinet right away?

  1. Hey, that's cool—I didn't know that. I really enjoy playing it, and so does my little boy—he's actually really good at building roller coasters 😀
